Color Belt Testing Information

Testing Dates

We've scheduled the color belt testing dates for 2024. There is no requirement from us that you test every opportunity. If you don't feel ready for a test, you can wait until a future test.

Requirements

In order to test for their next color belt, a student must complete the following tasks

• Earn their four stripes:

  • green for their form

  • black for their kicks

  • purple for their self-defense

  • white for their board breaks

• Attended 12 classes for their belt level
• Tested no sooner than 2 months ago (3 months for Tigers)
• Notified at least 2 weeks before the scheduled testing date they want to test on

The Test

The color belt test will be demonstrating for an instructor the four martial arts components listed above. A student must show sufficient skill in at least three of these skills before they may advance to the next belt.

There will be no demonstration of weapon forms nor sparring.

Testing Day

Every month, one Saturday will be a testing day. There will be up to four testing sessions. The times for each belt will be determined by the number of testers for that session.

Honor Stripes

Students can continue to accumulate honor stripes. We will have a quarterly honor student party. The top five (or so) students who have the most stripes in each of the monthly testings will be invited to the honor student party. They may bring as many friends as they like to the party.
